General comments
Er zijn diverse verwekkers beschreven van een epiglottitis, waaronder Haemophilus influenzae type b de bekendste is (zie ook Ned Tijdschr Geneeskd. 2008;152:177-81).
Overweeg orale uitbehandeling met amoxicilline/clavulaanzuur 3dd 500/125mg (indien mogelijk) bij klinische verbetering.
Invasieve Haemophilus influenzae type b infecties zijn meldingsplichtige ziekten, groep C.
